Ramzi Maalej obtained his PhD in Quantum Physics from University of Tunis El Manar in 2001. He is currently a full professor of Physics at the University of Sfax in Tunisia and leads the research group “Photonic and Advanced Materials”. His current research interests encompass theoretical and experimental studies of nanomaterials for emerging applications, such as nanocomposites, nanobiosensors, fluorescent nanopowders for fingerprint detection, and anti-counterfeiting technology. He has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific journals and is the principal investigator of numerous multidisciplinary funded national and international projects. Since 2022, he has been a co-founder and CEO of the startup Fluoink Nanotechnologies, which focuses on developing antimicrobial solutions for industrial applications (including paints, coatings, textiles, and polymers).
